COUNTERTOPS – IS OUR GRANITE COUNTERTOP LOVE AFFAIR OVER?

If you are one of the millions of people addicted to the HGTV show “House Hunters” you probably know by now that everyone has their wish lists. It usually includes 3-4 bedrooms, 2-3 bathrooms, stainless steel appliances and granite countertops. The countertops are a main sticking point.  If it isn’t granite, they don’t even want to see it.  But is our love affair with granite starting to fade?  Granite is still the number one choice for kitchen countertops because of its durability and ease of use, but it seems the mystique is what’s fading.  Granite is everywhere and if a home on the market doesn’t have it, well, it just doesn’t sell.  It’s no longer elite or special it’s just common and expected.
